The Dogecoin founder and member, Billy Markus has revealed his DOGE holdings to be 220,000 DOGE.
In a tweet on Monday, Markus stated noted how he was just another Dogecoin community member and also lashed out on some ill-doers in the community.
Markus noted in a tweet,
“Yet another reminder:
I don’t speak for dogecoin.
I am not on the project. I am a community member. I hold about 220k doge.
I will defend those who I feel are actively making the space better. I will discourage those who I feel aren’t.
I will talk about whatever I want.”
Markus has remained active in the crypto space and also on Twitter. His tweets were not just around crypto but anything he chose to. Although the co-founder noted to speak about anything, he added to encourage those building the crypto space and discourage those who were not.
As the Dogecoin project takes on a more serious path, Markus was questioned by the community to return to “coding his creation.” However, Markus wanted to maintain the decentralized aspect of DOGE and also the treatment from the community.
Markus stated,
“i never will. working on a crypto project is terrible as i have actually found the more you do for people, the more entitled they get and worse they treat you.
i respect the developers a lot for volunteering to do so for all these years.”
From giants in the tech world like Elon Musk supporting DOGE and now that it has a ‘Trail map’ in place, the community expected massive profits. However, Markus reminded the community through an expert from Rick and Morty that they “bought it cuz you like it.”
The co-founder concluded stating,
“I do not owe a single person in this space anything at all. I abhor entitlement, as it destroys communities and contribute nothing – and beyond that, make the volunteers who are contributing less interested in doing so. I’ve said this since 2014.
I like the fun people though”
