We talk with Tighe-Mearns-Smith about their NFTs, fractionalized ownership, their music videos & the mysterious Dr Death.
What have you been up to since we last talked?
Over the last 3 months we’ve been busy. We were super excited to have our first major exhibition at Saatchi Gallery as part of the Start Art Fair, at which we had two of our hand-painted & collaged ‘zero waste’ fine art pieces. We have since sold one of them for £9,000 using our favourite block-chain Zilliqa for the payment!
We also were part of an online music festival with MixCloud at which we premiered our most recent album release ‘Dr.Death – To the Nigredo and Back Again’ it was the ultimate portable party as it was streamed online.
At the time of writing, we are at episode 29 of our comic series Dr.Death’s Redemption, which is a weekly NFT series out every Saturday 11am UK time, this is also built on the Zilliqa blockchain and currently, the episodes are minted and available to buy on Sparda Wallet. Mid November we unleashed our first physical NFT’s which were a limited batch of ‘Episode 1 eco-t-shirts’. The NFT acts as digital ownership of the official t-shirt as well as the care instructions. This was a great way to explore the utilisation of an NFT for more than its verification as proof of ownership.
What’s this all about? / Who are you doing it with?
High-end art always seems like a key investment but as we see pieces sell for millions it is inaccessible for the majority of investors
But what if there was a way to ‘fractionalise’ ownership?
That’s exactly what we will be offering on the 17th December on Rarible Marketplace. We will be minting 5 of our high end fine art digital illustrations as NFT’s. We are partnering with Marcel Art & Multeez to explore the co-ownership of NFT’s. The NFTs will be ‘fractionalised’, what we mean by this is that a group of individuals can come together and co-own a piece, each of them owning a percentage of the asset and with the ability to trade their percentage independently as they please. This ability to co-own luxury assets will soon be common place so we are very excited to be at the front line of the merger of art, technology and finance. The ability to have on-chain easily verifiable certification of a percentage of an asset will revolutionise other facets of commercial life too: real estate, car ownership, family owned assets, it will be huge!

How can people get involved?
Multeez is on a mission to empower communities of creators and owners by introducing a new model of co-ownership:
“In our partnership with Marcel, we will provide a smooth, safe and social entry into the NFT space.
In addition, our closed alpha platform will offer FAD Magazine readers the ability to co-own digital assets.
Users will be able to collaborate, bid and purchase artwork as a group. We provide live support and a tutorial explaining more about this process. Once users purchase an NFT, they can sell a portion of their ownership or collaborate with others to sell the NFT as a secondary sale. Oh, and we even support credit card transactions, so no need to mess around with digital wallets.”– Multeez
Here are two of the pieces that we will be minting for sale on the 17th December 2021:
‘We see history repeat itself with impulses of scientific booms and religious beliefs. Ideologies rise, conquer and fall as civilizations are lost in time taking with them their shared perspective. Progressive impulses in human intelligence have equal and opposite reactions as we see civilizations go from golden ages of science, art and philosophy to dark ages of unbalance, violence and backwardness. The psychology of life circles itself as moon revolves around the earth and the earth around the sun. An unbalance on science, art and philosophy plagues in society plagues the mind; Virulence is the antonym. Balance is the key, utopia the scene. Step into a future where religious mysticism lights the corners of abstraction and rational thought analysis the chasm of the void. Peer into the future as we witness the next evolutionary step, the masculofeminine human, the redemption of the balance of the three integral pillars of human perception, art, philosophy & science.”
‘Our first ever animated music video from our album ‘Thesis’ which we created as Dr.Death. “The Mental One Two’ is an insight into the beginning of the soundtrack of The Era of Redemption. Let us take you on an all immersive visual and auditory journey to awaken the fire from the depths of your mind, as we rebirth the 32,000 year old ancient shamanic spirit. Since its release “The Mental One Two’ has been selected to feature at 7 film festivals worldwide including Pinewood studios lift off sessions.’
Anything planned for 2022 you can tell us about?
Yes! We are excited to be guest designers at St.Andrews’ Don’t Walk charity fashion event at which we will be exhibiting a selection of our sustainable fashion collection. All the proceeds from this event will be going to two non-profit projects, one is Impact arts which utilises art therapy and practice for both children and seniors, the second is The Domestic Violence Project which aids survivors in legal services, advocacy and community education.
We have a few more things in the works but they are super-secret until the days draw closer!
